Dec. 2008 – I’m hanging with my BFF Missy at Matthew Atwood’s apartment in Edwardsville. I’ve heard mention of some strange, always sleeping roommate of Matt’s named Burcham. But we don’t meet for some time because whenever I am over…he’s sleeping. Finally, the day comes when the mysterious roommate, Burcham, is awake! I am very excited that he has red hair.
Dec. 2008-July 2009 – Burcham makes many, many moves…each one denied. We continue to text and eat Steak n Shake together but just as friends. On July 20, 2009 I invite Chris to an Old Testament Bible study at a friend’s home. Afterwards we go out for ice cream and sit in my car in front of my parents’ garage and talk and Chris steals my first kiss. The following Friday we go on our first official date to the Arch and dinner on The Hill. On the car ride home we decide on July 20th as our official anniversary since that was the date of our first kiss.
July 2009-Dec. 2012 – I finish my degree at Greenville College. Chris moves and changes jobs…twice. We enjoy some quality time riding coasters, camping, floating down the river, attending many a LAN party and many a Game Night, falling asleep during movies, and ALMOST watching the entire series of Lost together.
Dec. 20, 2012 – I have given up on expecting a proposal at special events. Today is our date to open up the Christmas gifts we got for each other before I leave to spend Christmas with my family in Wisconsin. After all the gifts have been opened Chris stands up and says “Oh wait, I forgot one. It’s not wrapped though so you have to close your eyes. It’s in the bedroom, I’ll go get it.” I am slightly baffled but do as I’m told. I can hear him shuffling around and he says I can open my eyes. When I do he is right in front of me on one knee holding something shiny in a little grey box. He says “I have a question to ask you. Jessica Lambright, will you marry me?” As soon as I saw him kneeling there I collapsed onto the couch and kept saying “Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.” Quite dorky, but hey, what’s a girl to do? Chris proposes (pun intended) July 20th for the wedding date since it will be our four year anniversary.
Dec. 21, 2012 – Wedding planning begins!
